Joh 14:1
(1) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Joh 21:14-19
(14) This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.
(15) So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.
(16) He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
(17) He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
(18) Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.
(19) This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

This episode in Acts 17 is when Paul was waiting for Timothy and Silas to join him in the great city of Athens. The intellectual and cultural center of the ancient world. He was alone in a big city, have you ever been alone in a big city? The test of your character will be known when your alone in a big city. Paul begins to walk the streets of Athens. As he walks the streets of Athens, his spirit is stirred within him. He finds something moving because he sees the depth of depravity and the wickedness of that city. Paul saw false teachers who were peddling soul dope, a narcotic for the soul. He saw pagan temples that were filled with empty people. My I remind you that Athens was the cultural center of that ancient world. The glory of Athens was overwhelming. The Parthenon, Acropolis were there. Paul was there after the age that was known as the Golden Age of Pericles. This city was overwhelming to see.

When Jesus walked this earth 2,000 years ago, it was in a physical body. He laid aside His omnipresence and was only at one place at a time. For this reason He spent His time moving about, going where people were and meeting their needs. This is the Messiah Modeling the Ministry for us. Never did Jesus sit back and wait for the people to come to Him, He went out where the people were. Please note: nowhere does the Bible command lost sinners to come to church…but it does command us saints to go out into the highways and hedges and compel people to come to church! Do you like it here at GBC? Are you proud of your church? Would you like to share it with many others? Ok then, go ahead!

We have enjoyed having the Longs with us during this special meeting. Today is anniversary Sunday and Brother Long has preached another great message. We have seen God move this week and people getting the victory in their lives. Brother Long gave a wonderful message concerning staying encouraged in the Lord regardless of the old devil’s threats. We all need a touch from God as Elijah received as he had just accomplished a great victory for the Lord. He was full of self pity and feeling sorrow for himself but God had a plan for him. There are several aspects the Brother Long brings out concerning a touch from God.

1 Kings 19:1-8 1 And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.</itunes:summary>

I have been amazed to see such accounts as are often published about revivals, as if the revival had come without any cause – nobody knew why or wherefore. I have sometimes inquired into such cases; when it had been given out that nobody knew anything about it until Sabbath they saw in the face of the congregation that God was there, or they saw it in their conference room, or prayer meeting, and were astonished at the mysterious sovereignty of God, in bringing in a revival without any apparent connection with means. Now mark me. Go and inquire among the obscure members of the church, and you will always find that somebody had been praying for a revival, and was expecting it. Some man or woman had been agonizing in prayer, for the salvation of sinners, until they gained the blessing. It may have found the minister and the body of the church fast asleep, and they would wake up all of a sudden, like a man just rubbing his eyes open, and running round the room pushing things over, and wondering where all this excitement came from. But though few knew it you may be sure there has been somebody on the watchtower; constant in prayer till the blessing came.

There never will be a revival -till somebody makes particular efforts for this end. But when the attention of a minister is directed to the state of the families in his congregation, and his heart is full of feeling of the necessity of a revival, and when he puts forth the proper efforts for this end, then you may be prepared to expect a revival.”
