OUR PHILOSOPHY The Purpose of Blackstone Valley Baptist Academy is to produce Christian ladies and gentleman with attitudes in harmony with God's Word. We believe that for a student to be truly educated, he must not only know God's purpose for his own life, but also God's plan for the ages. Blackstone Valley Baptist Academy is founded upon the authority of the Word of God and emphasizes the fundamentals of the Christian faith. The Bible is the center of our regular curriculum which compiles with or exceeds state requirements. We further believe that the proper development of the total child will make him a good example in his church and community. The proper school should make him a better child at home, later to become a well-adjusted and useful Christian citizen.
*Why
have a School Dress Code?
Our school is first a CHRISTIAN school. The spiritual emphasis of the school is of a far greater importance than its academic stand in the community. Academic excellence should characterize a Christian school; however the HEART of the student is more important than the HEAD. If the heart is right, the head will be right. Teaching the child to BE is far more important than teaching him to DO. A lack of the proper emphasis upon the spiritual life of each student defeats the very purpose for which a Christian school is organized. The Bible says," But seek ye first the kingdom of God , and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" Matthew 6:33; "But godliness with contentment is great gain." I Timothy6:6. The Christian school should never degenerate into an institution of learning only. We will seek to train, but more importantly, we will teach the students how to live. To feed the minds and bodies of our students, but leave them spiritually illiterate will produce citizens without Christian character, without love of God or love for country. In order to develop solid Christian character, education must be Christian in content. The Blackstone Valley Baptist Academy has no reason for existence unless every phase of the work is geared to a spiritual program.
We must never
side step moral issues. Developing Christian values is vital if young
people are to grow and become responsible citizens and parents. In each
grade level, moral issues of questions will be discussed along with the
subject itself. Education is only a means to an end, and not the end
itself. Dress codes, personal habits, and leisure time activities are a
part of the overall program of developing Christian character through
moral training.
SOCIALLY We
will teach children to honor the rights of others and to respect manners,
rules, and laws, all of which were created to preserve our freedoms. The public
schools have allowed students to be open to a philosophy that breeds
recklessness and rebellion. Unnatural and unwholesome sex education,
emphasis upon materialism, and the promotion of humanism have bred
hostility in the hearts of many children. Our social objective will be
accomplished by combating recklessness and rebellion with, "Children,
obey your parents", Ephesians 6:1. We will combat materialism
with: " Man shall not live by bread alone" , Luke 4:4;
and "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." I
John 2:15. We will combat unnatural and unwholesome sex urges with:
"I keep under my body, and bring it unto subjection." I
Corinthians 9:27; and "Flee also youthful lusts." II
Timothy 2:22.
The
purpose of Blackstone Valley Baptist Academy is to teach the fundamental
skills of reading, writing, spelling, math, etc. in such a way that each
student may acquire knowledge without hindering limitations. The
environment will be distinctively Christian.
